Dabbe Falls Trek, Kargal, Karnataka
Dabbe Falls is 20km from Kargal, on the banks of River Sharavathi, in Sagara taluk. It came to limelight after construction of Linganamakki Dam in 1954 (at 5km). There is famous Chowdeswari temple and has pretty diverse culture and traditions.
Begin on the road from Shimoga toward Sagara and drive in the direction of Jog Falls on the Kargal Road. On this Kogar-Karkkala Road, you can find Panjali Cross; a left from here leads you on for three kilometers until a village called Dabbe. These are motorable roads in good condition and to make your life simpler, just stick to your right no matter what deviations come your way.
Dabbe Falls, spotless waterfall, which is deeply hidden in the mountains near Hosagadde. Here trek route is deep valley leading to Dabbe Falls of delightful sight. It is situated around 30Km from Jog falls and formed by River Sharavathi that falls from a height of 80’. The travel through the village and passing by the paddy fields makes it a lovely journey towards the falls.
Here we have to pass through paddy fields enjoying the greenery surface and the waving of green grass in pleasant manner. We have to pass via few houses wherein we are offered certain hospitality which we could not refuse as it was a welcome event and adding spirit to our voyage.
At Kedarnath, Yamunothri and Vyshnodevi I went on horseback. I trekked more than a dozen times the Sabarimalai hills at Kerala. I trekked Tirumala Thirupathi hills and many other small and medium hills at Nasik and other places in India. But I had not seen the one of tuff task anywhere as involved in reaching Dabbe falls.
